Types of Mobile Car Repair & Diagnosis
One of the worst possible things that can happen when you need to go somewhere is that your car won’t start. There are all kinds of reasons for this to occur, including:

-
Bad Battery or corroded terminals – Car batteries only last for so long. A mobile mechanic will be able to determine if it is your battery or alternator and make the necessary mobile car repair you need.
-
Chassis Diagnosis – During our inspections, we can determine if your car’s chassis is roadworthy and healthy.
-
Bad Fuel Pump – Even if you have a full tank of gas, a bad fuel pump won’t deliver fuel to the engine and your car won’t start. A mobile mechanic will conduct a car repair diagnosis and determine what is happening. Sometimes it might be injector problems and simply a clogged fuel filter, which we will be able to determine with our car repair diagnosis.
-
Bad Ignition Coil – Without a working Ignition Coil, there won’t be that spark that gets your car rolling.
-
Bad Lights – Broken or not working brake lights, headlights, taillights and even interior lights, our mobile car mechanics are able to replace these for you and “lighten up” your car!
-
Bad Starter – If you hear a grinding noise or nothing happens at all when you turn the key, your starter might need to be replaced. It is important that you do not persist in trying to start the car as doing so can lead to more serious problems.
-
Bad Timing Belt – Overtime, your timing belt may stretch and break. When this happens, your engine won’t run.
-
Noisy Engine – This can be a few different things, such as exhaust leaks, catalytic converter issues, or bad mufflers. As part of a mobile car repair diagnosis, our mobile mechanics will be able to determine what the cause is and make the necessary auto repairs.
-
Security System/Immobilizer Activation – Today’s newer cars come with all kinds of “smart” gadgets, including advanced auto security systems that are designed to prevent auto theft. Unfortunately sometimes, your car might misidentify you as a thief and lock you out of your own car or activate your car’s immobilizer, which means your car’s engine will not start. If you can’t reset your system yourself, contact Aftermath Mobile Mechanics, we will be happy to help you get back on the road!
-
Transmission Slipping – Our mobile auto mechanics can diagnose your transmission for slips, clutch issues and fluid leaks. Additionally, we offer full transmission rebuilds when needed as part of our mechanic services.
-
Bad Windshield Wipers – Our mobile auto mechanics can replace your worn out wipers, repair wiper motors and service your car’s washer system.
Car Won’t Start – Check Engine Light on

You go to start your car and it happens – the check engine light flashes on. What does it mean? What do you do? Can you still drive when the light is on? Ignoring your check engine light can lead to serious problems. While if the light is on continuously, it may be okay to drive your car for a few miles, but before you just drive away, it is important to insure it is not “flashing” as driving your car when it is flashing can cause you even more repair problems. It is critical to your car’s health to find out why your check engine light came on in the first place. It could be for something simple like a loose gas cap or something more serious like total transmission or engine failure. While a simple fix like a loose gas cap or a bad oxygen sensor will cost you somewhere between $20-$500, a catalytic converter problem can run you between $300-$1,500. And, a transmission or engine issue will generally cost upwards into the thousands. One of the first things you should do is contact a mobile car mechanic that can come right to you and run a car diagnosis to determine why it is on. They will run an onboard diagnostic system’s check that tracks engine performance emissions, electric issues and more and thoroughly examine your car.
Mobile Car Mechanic vs. Auto Parts Store Scan
It is important to understand the difference between the types of scan a mobile car mechanic conducts compared to those offered by auto parts stores. While it may seem like a cheap and quick way to determine why your check engine light is on, it is important to understand that these scans do not always provide accurate diagnosis. Stores like AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts offer basic trouble-shooting scans that provide limited data. Their scan tool generally is a basic code reader and doesn’t provide the full picture of what may be wrong with your car. For instance, common codes such as P0455 and P1101 mean that there is some type of EVAP error; however, there could be several different reasons that your car is throwing that code. These don’t point to nor provide you with specific details of what the underlying problem is. More importantly, the employees that conduct these free scans are not ASE certified mechanics nor can they perform a physical inspection of your car. Combined, that means the free scans provided are only going to give you a very limited diagnosis of what may be wrong with your car. Without a thorough understanding of how a car’s vehicle systems interact with each other, these auto parts store scans could lead you to replacing a part you don’t actually need to, leaving the actual problem unresolved.
Our ASE Certified mobile car mechanics use advanced professional diagnostic tools that offer more precision when it comes to determining why your check engine light is on and/or why your car is running rough. They are able to review real-time data such as oxygen sensor performance, fuel trims, catalytic converter problems, transmission issues and more. Our mobile mechanics know how to properly interpret scan readings and root out the cause. With years of experience, they will be able to provide you with a personalized recommendation based on an in-depth diagnosis of your car. Our mobile mechanics will be able to tell you what the problem is, how it affects the running of your car, and what repairs are critical to be made and ones that can potentially wait.
The bottom line is when your check engine light comes on; your car is telling you it needs help. Ignoring it, can turn a $20 fix into thousands of dollars in repair costs!
